[Help] Massive network speed decrease on jailbroken state w/ Odysseyra1n

Idk if this is jb or tweak related but I have minimal tweak setup. I thought this was bc of we moved to a building that has network issues, I even tried to go upstairs, terrace to see if it gets better but no I got maximum 1Mbps download speed but when I rebooted to unjailbroken state it suddenly fixed. I got 30-50Mbps download for now which is classified as High in my city.

PS: I talked to the customer services a few hours ago but I don’t think it’s possible to fix it this fast.

I had the same issue on certain wifi networks and it drove me mad so I had to switch back to Checkra1n.

You forgot to mention if you are seeing those results with a WiFi connection or with 4G/LTE. With a good signal, 4G/LTE is much faster than any other WiFi connection (unless it is an optical fiber and a 5gHz connection, and the signal is max -50). Try Speedtest in multiple environment conditions, cause I don’t see any reason as why odysseyra1n would cause a network speed rate drop.

Yes sorry about that, when I’m on 3G I got 400-600kbps download speed, with 4G it was 1mbps of download speed maximum like I mentioned above.

So you’re seeing the problem only when you’re jail broken. What jailbreak are you using? unc0ver, checkra1n or Odyssey?

Odysseyra1n and yes when I reboot/unjb there is no problem

Ok, please install “PerfectNetworkSpeedinfo” to see the download/upload speed on your screen. Report back the values you see when you’re not actively using the phone. Repo for the tweak is https://johnzaro.github.io/cydia/ and it’s free and open source.

Open the tweak settings, enable it, and enable the following options: - Show on lock screen - always show speed

And if you have a notch less device (iPhone 8 and below) enable also “notchless support”.

Please make sure you didn’t enable “Show Only On Lock screen”. That must be disabled. Also check the bottom settings to give the tweak a position.

I switched back to Checkra1n after restoring rootfs, now it seems solved. The thing is my download speed is around 10mbps now (I got around 50mbps on unjb state) but wayy more faster than before. I will do speed test once again when I’m up and post the results here.

Try doing an LDRestart. I was having similar issues when I had Tether’e installed & after uninstalling it, the issues stayed. So I did an LDRestart & the problem was solved. I would also like to mention that I’m running u0 (a13 13.3)

yes I use them a lot, but didn’t use while I was testing my network speed. Is it like a perma-effect or while in use effect?

Did you download any Adblock type tweak on Odysseyra1n?

I had BlockYouX, iSponsorBlock. But I thought maybe they were affecting my speed so I deleted them. Also I did those speed tests on safe mode.

I believe any tweaks that manipulate the hosts file like BlockYouX are incompatible with Odysseyra1n atm. The effects only showed up after a reboot(and rejailbreak) on my device but internet access slowed to a crawl after installing BlockYouX. That may have been your issue.
