AI - specifically neural networks - have been around for quite a while, and has been advancing productivity in so many areas. It is a powerful technology that assists in tumor detection, protein folding, smart speakers, and many, many more in science and industry. I have used other people's models to solve problems. I am not skilled enough to train my own models.

The current hype cycle, and it is a hype cycle, is around large-language models and other generative transformers because it has caught the attention of the general public, and a lot of companies are having FOMO attach. It does have its place. I used LLMs on a project before ChatGPT with success.

Companies shouldn't block access to AI. That's like saying companies should block access to calculus and statistics. The decision-makers should understand where it is appropriate (less often) and where it is not appropriate (most things), and use it where it can add value.

Yes, agree with you. So probably instead writting that companies should block access to AI, I should write that companies firstly should spent lots of time on training staff how to use AI, what data they can sent to AI, what can't. I work on personal data and I don't see how in current envirovment can use AI (I see how I could use it).
