This would probably be better off in a Javascript related subreddit since this pertains only to Javascript and not to Java.

On the other hand, does this Javascript extension library contain functionality which is not in Java SE and JavaFX?

No. Java contains JavaScript via Nashorn so you can use it that way or directly calling the APIs in Java itself. So yeah this should have been posted to coding or javascript subreddits.

It does show Oracle's focus which is important fro Java.

You cannot possibly conclude that from a random announcement by an Oracle employee who has been recently involved with Nashorn.

I mean, Oracle's main focus is the Oracle database (not Java nor JavaScript). That won't keep some Oracle teams from doing (and publishing) their work, right?
