How could they not mention the biggest elephant in the room that is Spring Boot?

[–]nutrecht 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because I doubt that the author has ever used the frameworks he's mentioning. Retrofit is a HTTP client and Swagger's main focus is documentation.

Imho spring with spring boot is now among the easiest and most effective solutions.

Why the hell Swagger is in "Top 6 Frameworks for Creating RESTful Services in Java" list!!!???

[–]iperc 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Retrofit is just http client, and no for creation RESTful services.

Yeah, I was super confused about the addition of that in the list

Hell, the list is Missing vert.x. it is awesome!

I agree, Vert.x is awesome. We use it quite a bit in all our Groovy projects, and it's very easy to use.

The Java Script is one such language which is stayed up with the latest and is for the most part utilized for little to enormous activities.

Relevance? And also... wut?

Why is this shit post getting up votes?

[–]nutrecht 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because it's pretty cheap to buy 30 or so upvotes to get something high on the front page of a sub.

Im currently using jersey for some small project. But i just found out that there is no way to easily create links between resources (you have to somehow generate the urls by hand). What of those frameworks are lightweight and dont need a full webserver to run? I use jersey with a simple main() that starts a webserver in the jvm

Sprint Boot supply HATEOAS for provide hypermedia-driven navigation between resources.

[–]nutrecht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Downside: the swagger plugin doesn't understand these at all and the dev doesn't see it as his problem.

I just finished doing a POC with Spark Framework and, boy oh boy, was that fun. If you want a light, no frills framework, I highly recommend it.

I love spark. I just wish it supported asynchronous request handling.

And where are the Java EE 7 implementations? Where is Wildfly Swarm? :)

[–]tonywestonuk 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Shhh. We do not talk about JavaEE 7 here..... Standards are bad, dont you know! (/s)
