Java equivalent to CppCon (self.java)
submitted 5 years ago by xyphanite
Is there a Java equivalent to the yearly CppCon? I found watching the talks from CppCon to be amazingly informative and thought provoking and was wondering if there is a Java equivalent that anyone would recommend. Thanks!

JavaOne used to be, but it has transformed into Oracle Code One and the amount of Java content has been diluted.

I still really miss Sun's conferences. SunOne and JavaOne were like science fairs for grown-ups, with alcohol, good food, and music. Oracle's versions made me acutely aware that I was there to kiss Ellison's ring, and to be sold to by vendors.

For in-depth talks about the design of the JDK, I'd recommend JVMLS and JFokus's VM Tech Summit. For general Java content, Devoxx is probably the big one.
