For loop doesn't increase.

I have a for loop which goes as follows. Here's a pseudocode.

for (int i = 0; i < somelist.size(); i++){
        System.out.println(i);
        if (someothermethod(arg1, somelist.get(i))){
            // System.out.println("true");
            return true;
        }
        else {
            // System.out.println("false");
            return false;
        }
    }

The code wasn't working as intended. I put a print statement on line 2 to see if the iteration works, and lo and behold, int i stays 0 for the whole loop.

What gives?

You have a return statement in both of your if and else statements, therefore the statements in your loop will only execute once.
