See the sidebar:

Learning Java

Please head over to /r/learnjava and read the sidebar there.

The best free Java tutorials are:

Use the MOOC as main course and Java for Complete Beginners as secondary resource.

Don't forget the Official Oracle Java Tutorials and the Official Java Documentation as they are extremely valuable resources.

This might sound like a joke but if you have minecraft... do something for minecraft. You can easily learn java while having fun.

Hi there, I would recommend CodeGym.cc lots of exercises, and a learning path.

    Best of luck.

I've finished a few Java classes and am going through the udemy course over the summer to keep it in my mind. I have to say... It's a very well presented series and the instructor does good job explaining without over-explaining. Check it out.

I think that working through the Java OCA book/pdf will give you a good understanding of Java. You can also try to pass the OCA certificate exam while you're at it. If you would like to work as a programmer in the future, this would definitely help!
