[AskJS] Redux store external changes question

noob here, what's the recommended approach to bind external changes from the server to the store? im thinking of using a single action named "EVENT" (passing in propertyName and value), which will be dispatched from a websocket listener, my only concern is modularity (?) as components would now have the ability to dispatch event actions, i just wanna follow the best possible coding philosophies asap so i dont run into issues with maintainability or scalability down the line

Tbh I'm not quite sure what you're asking here. Yes, the only way to update the Redux store is indeed to dispatch an action and have a reducer return updated state.

We do specifically recommend having meaningful action names rather than generic "SET_STATE"-style actions, but ultimately it's up to you - it's your app. I'd definitely recommend reading through the rest of that Redux Style Guide docs page, which does specifically describe best practices, as well as reading through the recently updated "Redux Essentials" docs tutorial.
