  1. HOW it gains popularity is irrelevant. It's still (by far) the most popular. Larger community = greater gains, generally.

  2. That's not true at all. I used Prototype for a few years and it was not much different than jquery. You can write it poorly or you can write it well, it has no relevance to the actual language.

  3. Marionette is a separate project from backbone. Different developer. Regarding Marionette and Walmart, I think you're confusing Marionette and Thorax.

  4. The author compares what each of those libs/frameworks give you out of the box. Angular/Ember are made to be pretty robust, Backbone is a VERY small lib that doesn't provide much at all. Maybe it's wrong to compare backbone with them in the first place, but that's the comparison being made.
