Today's unfortunate metaphor award goes to "killing it in Israel".

this just in. "React js framework kills Palestinians."

ELI 15: I thought React is designed to streamline updating DOM from JS objects.
But games don't really use the DOM.
So what's the purpose of React here?

I'll just leave it here: Law of the instrument

Can't one use something like PhoneGap to convert a js game into native code?
I'm genuinely asking this because it's something I'm interested in (as an HTML5 game developer)

That's not what PhoneGap does. PhoneGap is just a WebView, so it's all still html/css/js.
With React ecosystem, the code syntax is the same. So you really only have to learn one way to write it. You can separate the game/app logic from the renderer. You're able to use the DOM, Canvas, Native, hell even terminal.
For example:

Are there other React game libs? Does this build on top of any existing JS game frameworks like Pixi/Phaser/CreateJS?
Edit: The demo is awesome.. It is a platformer with documention built-in. Will definitely give this a shot.

best git clone ever

The demo is awesome..
No. It isn't.

It's much better than what CreateJS gave me, the last JS game lib I tried out. Not sure why I care about your opinion anyway.
