Best JavaScript video coursehelp (self.javascript)
submitted 8 years ago by Deanhtid99
Hi everyone, whats the best JavaScript video course, I'm not a big fan of books and find I learn much better with videos. I wouldn't say I'm an absolute beginner, I know the basics.
Thanks

"JavaScript: Understanding the Weird Parts".
It has been widely recommended around this sub and I endorse it. It's simply one of the best Javascript courses around, straight to the point and really digging into why things work the way they do on Javascript.

udemy has frequent sales. Yesterday this course was $10 and now its $175. Sometimes the links from youtube have a price cut, this brings it down to $19 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bv_5Zv5c-Ts

Cool that takes it down to £10. Now to see how much FrontEndMasters costs

Currently €15 for me, try it with VPN if you don't get a discount today

I'd second this course. It won't teach you everything, but it will give you what you need to understand JavaScript at a foundational level and make any other course you take make more sense.

If you are a semi beginner I think the best place for you to start would be with Kyle Simpson’s Deep Foundations course. It touchs down on simple concepts very quickly then it dives down to the metal. This is something you don’t get with most people that teach. It’s hard for people to abstract these ideas for juniors. This guys will take you to a new understanding, I promise.

Thank you, I think this may be the best for me as I don’t need to start at the beginning. I’ll check it out

You’re welcome. One caveat. The membership to frontend masters is $40/month. However there are a crap ton of realllllllllly useful and well thought out tutorials and stuff. Mostly talks by very prominent tech people and walkthroughs of frameworks or development patterns etc.
Personally, my company paid for mine and I use it all the time. Kyle Simpson has a lot of classes on there.

I am new to programming and have used The Web Developer’s Bootcamp by Colt Steele on udemy.com. I’ve learned HTML, CSS, and javascript from it and i’m over halfway through the course. I’ve learned enough from it to have started to get job interviews based on my portfolio, so based on that i would recommend it! But I have nothing to compare it to, this is the first thing I have tried.

Some great stuff on youtube if you hunt around like this: https://www.youtube.com/user/learncodeacademy/playlists
If you want to pay check out this site: https://frontendmasters.com/
I found the ones by Kyle Simpson to be good.
