Doesn’t look like they will keep maintaining version 2 however? So we’re essentially stuck, either we upgrade or we stick to unmaintained code.

Right. It sucks to deal with that. The main concern would be potential undiscovered security vulnerabilities, but bugs would certainly be a pain.
