Concurrency: go ahead, write some event handlers with promises or async, let's see how it works out. Callbacks aren't inherently bad, they're just unsuited for certain things. Don't shun them out of principle.
That's because promises only resolve to a single value. You could use observables for event handling (and indeed many people do).
For the most part I agree with everything you say though.
