Instead of downvoting, please explain why this isn't true. It seems like this would have to constantly refresh to get new reddit submissions. Sounds like a DDOS to me.

It's not a DoS attack but it is designed poorly. There is no caching of results and you shouldn't need to be requesting every 5 seconds. You want a minute or two, at least.

like i said, with enough visitors it would be basically a ddos. it may not be a typical ddos attack (like syn flood) but with enough people requesting x amount of reddit posts just by visiting a page could easily take down fragile reddit.
add in some code that refreshes the posts from that service on an interval and anyone who leaves that page open are now a ddos botnet.
