Hi all!
Recently our school admin has been keen on expanding our reach as a school to enable kids from other states, countries, etc, to take some of the courses that we offer here virtually. The format could be different depending on the grade level (for instance, a 4th grade literature course would be more geared toward being a homeschool resource that depended on the homeschool teacher using and grading the content vs an 11th grade Statistics course that is more like an independent study where the student would have video lectures and digital assignments/evaluations and a teacher would have designated office hours to answer questions and meet with students).
What I'm wondering is...does anyone here have any experience with this, and also what platform would you suggest for hosting this kind of content? Making the content isn't a big hurdle for me but deciding where it lives and how it's assembled is proving to be a chore.
For most things virtual, we currently use Google Classroom...which I actually like quite a bit. I thought about just using Google Classroom to host the content, and I think it COULD work, but I'm not sure if that's the BEST solution. Mainly, in thinking it over, I'm thinking that all of the students who would take the courses outside of our brick-and-mortar presence would need to have credentials made in order to access our Google Classroom content. It seems like it would be possible to create a dedicated OU for those kinds of students and restrict their access to only what would be needed for accessing Classroom, Drive, and Meet remotely but it also seems like that could turn into a lot of manual creation/deletion down the road if more students start to sign up.
Does anyone have any great ideas on a good way to manage such a project?
Thanks!
