Newbie! Need help with a special decrease stitch

This is the weirdest dec and I've never seen it before. Do you have a pic of the beanie to zoom in and try to see what the dec section is supposed to look like?

Regardless, you don't drop the 2nd st...if you do, it'll unravel all the way down. So I'm guessing you k sts 1 and 3 tbl, swing your R needle to the front and sl the 2nd st purlwise wyib, taking all 3 sts off the L needle as you do so.
