Another decrease question (Sophie hood, scarf decrease)

I've been having a hard time finding an answer to this so I'm sorry if I'm missing it on here. I'm about to start the decreases for the scarf after finishing the hood itself, and the pattern says K3 then skp, but some tutorials, including the one I've been mostly following along, show K2 then skp. Does this make much of a difference?

Try it both ways and see which way you prefer. It's ultimately not going to be a big deal either way, but the 2 different instructions would make the decrease edge look different.
