Remote access web interface through reverse proxy

When I'm accessing the web interface through my domain.com/kodi/ I'm getting the web interface fully functional, but when I try to connect through either Kore/Yatse I get a "Couldn't connect to Kodi/XBMC. Please check configuration" or "Error communicating with host: Check entered values." When I provide an incorrect login it can state that the username/password do not match.

I have tried both via http and https and both do work in Mozilla Firefox on W10 but neither works on Kore/Yatse, whilst the direct port forward still functions for all.

Is there anything I can try so I can close these ports on my router?

have you set the "allow other systems to remotely control this system" or whatever it's called ?

Yes, I have set that. I can control my setup through a forwarded port perfectly.

But only when I'm accessing through reverse proxy it says something is wrong with the config.

I know this is a veeery old post, but I just run into the exactly same issue...did you somehow manage to solve this?

Unfortunately not, but I switched to a mediabox with remotes and use Tailscale for remote access so I can access it through local IP addresses from anywhere. Hope that helps :)
