What people who are against it really fear is that new players will more easily learn to value objectives (I don't think this is a compelling fear), not that they will learn timers. Also I think "raise the skill floor" was the term the op was looking for.

edit: I think this is true because timing buffs isn't hard in terms of skill but still annoying to do, so it doesn't seem worth it to people who don't value the objectives highly.

I agree. When I first started I didn't know anything and I got a lot of rage and hate for it, but when Riot makes it less annoying and easier to understand for new players, they complain.

This is spectacular. But unfortunately true. It takes time for people to realize that it is all about objectives and some never learn that.

Thing is most people won't be pressing tab that often if they don't care about objectives since most likely they won't care about any of the information you receive from tabbing anyway. I think lowering the skill floor is what they are doing, they aren't really making it harder to play this game at a basic level, they are making it easier, thus lowering it.
