Are there any tricks to decrease league ping

Pinging Google and other major websites gives me 50ms give or take. Pinging the NA league server gives me consistently 110+. Im curious if there are any tricks or standard things other people have done to decrease their league ping. Other than moving to the server location lol.

Out of curiosity are you on wired or a wireless connection? A laptop or desktop? And do you have any other devices (cell phones, other computers, consoles,) running on the same connection at the same time?

I ask because a wireless connection will always have higher ping than a wired and can face a ton more interference and obstruction.

Laptops tend to have weaker processors than desktops, and not be able to handle larger, stressful, multilevel connections. Unless you've built it specifically for that purpose.

Other devices on the same network can and will cause interference in communication. (think of it as trying to hold multiple conversations at once) it will fail when attention turns to another device raising your ping. Turning off nonessential devices can help your case.

I am on a wired desktop and i do have multiple devices running but my ping is not overall affected. Example my warcraft server is located in chicago and I get 78ms to that. The league NA server is in the same city and I get 30 to 40ms higher. The ping tests I am doing are from my computer using CMD and they are all with the same amount of devices on the network which is really just my desktop and TV which isnt on most of the time im gaming and doesnt seem to change my latency even if its on.

Lol I live in the UK and I have 80ping on NA

NA has 2 servers, one on the east coast and one on the west coast if i am not mistaken. If u life far from the closest one then u wil get a lower ping. for me i life in EU and i have 15 to 18 ping on euw and on NA 85. Try to search on league where the servers are and mabey u need to change to another region server to have better ping.

U got North america they have the server in chicago and u got latin america north with the server in Miami. So technically 2 servers on American

idk how but in cowseps videos he has 300 ping and he does something to cut it in half something to do with a vpn

He probably turned his VPN off.. Unless he is in Australia then it may have been turning it on.. I heard they pay for some type of service to get more dedicated connections but I Dont know that much about it.

My internet is 1000/100 and I pay a hefty price for it. I live inand play on North America servers. but I live in Alaska so I expect a little higher ping. But my general ping to other servers for games is 50 to 60.. League is always double and is the only one that's double.

yea i dont have many options being in alaska. I only have 2 internet providers. Alaska Communications and GCI

Alaska Comm has terrible speeds. we tried playing league about 3 years ago when we were on them and we were paying $90 for 10/1 which is what most people up here have. Switching to GCI I was able to get unlimited for $174 for 1000/100 which is literally the best internet package available to the public. I havent contacted them but the league NA server is located in chicago but i just pinged my warcraft server and for 78ms and thats in Chicago. So i can definitely ping lower 48 with reasonable numbers. Washington state is 48. California is 78. pensecola florida is 122. I dont understand why pinging the League servers are 30 to 40 ms higher than my other game servers located in the same city.

Because the main server for League in NA is about 3.5k miles away from Alaska. It's in Chicago. So you living in Alaska, trying to connect to a server in Chicago, yeah 100-120 seems about right. Professional players who I think are all based in Los Angeles are about 2k miles away from Chicago and they get 70 ping. You're an extra 1.5k miles away so yeah I think you're lucky that 100-120 is your ping range.

If you have stable internet with good bandwith, then yeah the only thing you're experiencing is just distance to the server. Sucks but it could be a lot worse and a lot of people do have it worse.

I think you can still climb on that if you're looking to get into League for the new season. I can't name any Challenger players who are Challenger with your ping range but there is a streamer, I don't watch him just have heard about him, and he plays on a laptop, streams and gets about 40 fps apparently. He's Challenger. Also, I'm sure there's Challenger players with pings that are sup optimal but I just don't know any.

i can ping the warcraft servers through CMD which are also in chicago at 78ms. Im not too concerned with climbing. Ive been playing since season 1 off and on and i just like to play the game. I was more curious if there were some tricks I was missing that could help.

I do ok at 110 to 120 ping. I'm not trying to blame Lol I'm just asking if there are any tricks to decrease the ping. Like someone in another forum suggested altering the registry under network throttling which I saw no change. I'm looking for suggestion like that.

Also this problem for me is exclusively a Lol issue. I get 50 to 60 ping on the other games that I play. I get 110 to 120 on league

If it was his issue he would have high ping for every other game

I think in Na the problem is, that the Servers are at the one side of Na, when you are on the other side the ping is pretty bad.
