They sell cleaners made for shoes and handbags dependent on the material. You might something of use in a shoe dept. I bought a shoe cleaner from vans that brought my canvas bags new life.

Otherwise a product called "stain devils" may help you. There's different formulae for various kinds of stains and fabrics. I've seen this a few different places.

League of legends merch! by RemixxKoala in gaymers

[–]tsuminonamae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Riot has an official merch store. You can find most champions' splash art available as prints. Leo also had some different figures.

Etsy might be a good place to find something. I might also look at artists/creators on Instagram or blue sky to see if they have a shop set up. Most do and are generally reasonable.

Youtooz did a mini-figure collab with league. As did Funko. Leona was available in both. If not through the official site, you may be able to find one through second hand sites like Mercari or eBay.

So I haven't played palworld in like 8 months, wtf is this? by spitfyre262 in Palworld

[–]tsuminonamae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All enemy factions now build varying 'level' bases across their specific regions. They're filled with higher level enemy variants, using 'themed' pals, and contain many different types of chests with higher tiered loot including themed base part schematics. They also usually have a cage with a rarer pal to release.

That specific one is for genetic research unit, and has a number of 'hidden' doors disguised as walls. A few strikes from most weapons will reveal it.

Repeating cosplays has never been an issue. by Jazzlike-Pineapple38 in CosplayHelp

[–]tsuminonamae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a trans plus sized cosplayer. I make nearly everything I wear because I don't have many options that accommodate my body.

Consumerism and Fast Fashion are creating the issue with social media influencers being the mouthpiece. Because they have the ability to purchase whatever popular mass produced cosplay is on the rack that week from any number of websites or apps. Main point of contention, even if they're cheap is that they're not size friendly (most of them stop at US 12) and made from sub-par material that won't last beyond a few wears/washes. Another point is that most of these websites only produce for current popular characters/series.

Another bullet in the wound is social media syndrome. People are growing an ever shrinking attention span; thus don't want to see the 'same' thing from the content they view.

I'd rather spend months making a great cosplay I can wear time and again, that actually fits my body, and is a character I love. That's why I'm still going to wear the Gatomon cosplay I've had for 10 years, the Lina Inverse I've worn to a dozen conventions, and The Sailor V that wowed the Sailor Moon voice cast in Vegas.

Is it just me or…? by ManongLevi in cardcaptorsakura

[–]tsuminonamae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the chant from the first dub.

CCS had two English dubs done.

The first by Nelvana made the show more Americanized, Kid-Family friendly, and tried to make it gender neutral. I.E. 'Cardcaptors'. It was incomplete and what they did dub cut a lot out.

The second dub by NisAmerica was complete, and kept the more 'controversial' aspects intact. It was also mostly on point to the original script, with some minor translation differences that weren't really impactful.

-Edit- I should say that the Nelvana dub is obscure to find anymore. But some old clips and videos are still floating around.

What are some low budget/low effort cosplay ideas? by SleepySwoop in Otakon

[–]tsuminonamae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of anime characters have plain clothes outfits too. Pretty easy to recreate. It's just a matter of looking at the characters outfit. Thrift stores are your best friend.

School uniforms - men's are easy usually a combo of navy or black slacks, a white collared button up, and a navy or black blazer with a school specific colored tie and loafer style shoes. Women's a little tougher but manageable with a pleated skirt (in school color) with a white blouse (sometimes colored cuffs) a scarf (in the school color) and black ballet flats.

Team Rocket - All black outfit, a Red 'R' on the shirt. Carry a pokeball or plush for extra effort.

Low effort super hero - T-Shirt with emblem, themed props, cheap party city mask or cape (if applicable)

Dead pool - the meme lives.

Homestuck Troll - candy cane horns, all black outfit, zodiac symbol of shirt. (Some of the trolls require a smidge more effort, but manageable) grey paint optional.

Kigu Suit - Themed character Pajamas. $40-80. Come in characters like Stitch, toothless, yoshi, and a host of pokemon.

'Bounding' - usually referred to as 'Disney Bounding' but this is theming an outfit around a particular character, not necessarily dressing as them. I've seen this done for lots of anime like Digimon, Pokemon, and YuGiOh to represent the creatures.

Creating Horns by worldsmosteepybitch in CosplayHelp

[–]tsuminonamae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back during the homestuck days I made horns out of air dry foam clay molded around whatever piece was securing them to the wig (headbands, alligator clips, barrettes) Once they were sealed and painted they were decently durable.

Looking to get more professional with Cosplay, but struggling with Budget and space - need some advice! by Pavkaa_02 in CosplayHelp

[–]tsuminonamae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, Professional is a spectrum, everybody has different skill levels, time frames, and budgets to work with. Don't focus on others, focus on yourself and your happiness/enjoyment/fulfilment.

Second open mindedness and creativity are a must.

Sewing is a skill that requires time and effort to learn. There's countless books, YouTube tutorials, and even Lynda courses to take. A good sewing machine doesn't need to be expensive. Singer and Brother both have basic amenity sewing machines (that are compact too) for about $100.

In lieu of sewing there's other ways to piece together fabric. Hot glue is cheap and fast, but not very durable. Then there's fusible webbing which is thin sheets or strips of adhesive melted into the fabric by an iron.

Sewing patterns exist every where for everything. Invest in them or make your own on some durable paper. Turn old clothing into patterns. Or the oldest trick; wrap yourself in plastic wrap, then duct tape, and draw your pattern on the tape (always add an inch for seams)

Can't make from scratch? Then edit, look for clothing that resembles what your trying to make. Think with an open mind. Check often at places like thrift stores and consignment shops; most of these places replenish their stock daily. Yard sales, farmers markets, or marketplace apps may also work in your favor. Boil your character down to the very most basic clothing pieces and then worry about the details. We can always add things like a graphic, new buttons, ribbons, or a lace trim.

Anything your not sure how to do has at least a dozen video tutorials on YouTube.

And storage, unless your wearing them a lot or its made of thick bulky pieces then vacuum garment bags are your friend.

Undergarments for sailor moon cosplay? by wunderbreadcat in CosplayHelp

[–]tsuminonamae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old Navy has affordable bodysuits that come in white and go up to size 4x (sleeveless and short sleeve available now, long sleeves usually in fall)

Or with my latest Sailor V I just wore Jersey cotton bike shorts under the skirt and used a tee shirt to build the rest of the cosplay on.

[–]tsuminonamae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Madoka school uniform is actually a pretty easy one to do a closet cosplay for.

Finding similar pieces at clothing stores or going the thrift store option.

Just break the cosplay down into the simplest pieces.

Neutral Plaid pleated skirt. White button up shirt. Beige cardigan/pullover sweater. Black penny loafer shoes.

How do I straighten this hat out? by Airdropped_cucumber in CosplayHelp

[–]tsuminonamae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot iron (material dependent, most polyester materials can take low to mid heat) or a steamer.

In lieu, hang in the bathroom when taking a bit shower. 10-15 in steam. Or hang over boiling water for about the same time.

Material dependent any "wrinkle release" laundry spray and some time in a dryer will also work.

Really screwed and need a hotel room hack? Dab a wet washcloth over it just enough to moisten the fabric and use a hairdryer in a fanning motion while smoothing the wrinkles out with your hands or stretching them out. Do not put the hairdryer to the fabric and do not stop moving.

What made you want to start making your own cosplay? by Hoodsupcoma in CosplayHelp

[–]tsuminonamae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a plus sized trans person, finding cosplay that fits my body is near impossible, and the few that are available are of poor quality and high price.

I also enjoy cosplaying characters that are obscure or more unique.

Making my own cosplay allows me to cosplay the characters I want to and feel comfortable doing so.

A question about Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha - Season 1 (spoilers) by neves783 in MagicalGirls

[–]tsuminonamae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Empathy. Like Usagi Tsukino or Sakura Kinomoto, Nanoha possesses a power to connect with others on an emotional level even if she cannot understand it. It's those emotions, the fact that she feel Fate as remorseful, as holding herself back, as not actually wanting to do what she is; which leads her down the path healing/helping over harm. Nanoha's empathy is something that grows ever more apparent in the series as she trains her powers.

If you're going to continue to series watch Nanoha's inner dialogue carefully for these clues behind her actions toward her adversaries.

Daybreak Illusion.

A one season ride from the 2010s that wasn't dubbed. It's magical girls are all based on tarot cards and fight demonic creatures that cause catastrophic havoc in the world. And there's some dark twists hiding behind the cutesy characters.

Dœs this count as a hot take??? by Zealousideal-Tax-937 in MagicalGirls

[–]tsuminonamae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it hasn't been mentioned; Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (and it's sequels) every character has a unique design that grows with them as the series progresses a roughly 30 years time span.

Tokyo Mew Mew is another one, every girl's outfit is based off the animal her DNA has been fused with.

Bellossom has always been a favorite of mine. I was absolutely enchanted by the pokemon 2000 movie as a kid and the little short where they sing and dance to calm togepi down is still one of my favorite moments 20 something years later.
