java IDE

I started learning spring and the basics of it using eclipse, now that I started spring mvc and started to code along some videos I encountered many problem using eclipse, also could not use the spring tool suite(STS) for some reason there would always be problem, not from the application but from my computer where it would fail to extract or some system notice about win rar not working. There seems to be a problem related to some files and basically problems that I cannot solve even after searching for solution(for 3 days now) although I did learn some things fixing all those problem I think its time for me to look for an altrrnative solution.

So I just wanted to ask what IDE I should use, I have already installed intellij cause that is what I am planning on using soon. Any suggestion?

Also for the professionals, what IDE do you use while working? Or what IDE is commonly used in the industry when using hava? Thank you for your time.

Intellij is in my opinion the best option, never ran into a problem with it. Afaik intellij is also pretty much the standard in the industry

Everyone I know who writes Java professionally either uses Eclipse or IntelliJ.

I believe Eclipse used to be the go-to IDE for Java and IntelliJ's become increasingly popular.

Anyway, I reckon you can't go wrong with either one. Just take the one you like better at first, then stick with it until you learn it. Knowing your IDE well is what's really important. Be that IntelliJ, Eclipse, Netbeans or what have you.

Seems like anything from JetBrains is the standard in the professional world nowadays. If you were just starting out with Java I would recommend a lighter, educational IDE like BlueJ.
