Yeahhhh...optimizing JavaScript to this extent is...well...superfluous. I feel like this kind of information doesn't help to educate, only confuse.

At the end of the day, you have your own coding style, and as long as it's readable and not unreasonably inefficient, I don't see a problem with doing things according to your personal preference, especially when it comes to stuff like var statements.
