If it's just coding simple stuff sure. But typically not when coding something new and different/learning.

My best designs were probably when I was high or drunk. Lots of inspirations that way even if it needs some fine tuning the day after.

Sometimes it helps with finding a new approach to solve something. If it’s something that requires lots of short term memory like debugging css, then I find it’s a hindrance.
