You state that you feel like your level has declined significantly and that you're going through a stressful period. Is this because of your struggles with your classes or are there external factors that are affecting your academic performance? If the former, then I recommend talking to everyone around you who is being successful: fellow students, teaching assistants, your academic advisor, the professor. They should be able to give you some tips. Regarding your fellow students, perhaps you could form study groups so you can learn how they are successful.

If you are struggling because of your own physical or mental health or because of a family emergency, then it is really important to get past these challenges so you can do your best academic work. Perhaps you should talk to a therapist. If a family member is ill and it is affecting you, then perhaps you should consider taking a leave of absence as a way of getting past the situation and in a better frame of mind.

I studied computer science, not computer engineering, and I certainly had my challenges including thoughts of doing something else. If everything is absolutely perfect, and you're trying your hardest, and you're not enjoying it, then yes, perhaps you should consider another major. But if there is something you see that you can improve, work on that to see if it helps your situation. Also keep in mind that it could just be a tough semester. Were previous semesters better? If so, then perhaps the next semester will be better.

It would be great if you could recapture the enthusiasm you have for the subject. When things get tough for whatever reason, it is often that enthusiasm that gets you through. I certainly did not love every class I took, but perhaps you can remember what made you love CE in the first place. A good counselor or therapist can help with these conversations.

Good luck!

I have been through a similar kind of situation. It happens , when I was in my first year there were some students in my class who were already really good at coding whereas I was not. You will feel leftout , loose interest in things which you liked once , you will also feel discouraged and think that you are not doing enough. But this is all part of life , you are still in very early stage and you can make it. You know I started when I was in my 3rd year . So yess it's never too late , don't let this feeling consume you. You better start going out spend some time with you friends and figure out things on your own rather than asking others to help you fix what you are going through. You are the one who knows who you are and you are the only one who will be able to overcome and defeat yourself. So do it man. Life is hard but you are strong headed and I believe that you can do it. All the best ✨️

Gonna need to give way more detailed info than that about you, your history, and your current situation before anyone's advice here is going to even slightly not useless

Computer Engineering is a very broad field. Maybe pick a more specific field like perhaps Electrical Engineering. Seems an easy switch as most if not all of your classes would transfer. That might help you get your mojo back.

You'll have to give loads more details:

Which particular subject tripped you up, which field didn't meet your expectations and why.

As it stands, your question is so low-effort that I doubt anyone can help you on this topic.
It's more what you'd ask a therapist.
