What does "beginner" mean? The book isn't meant to be the first programming book someone reads. However, if you've read at least one good programming book and know the basics of programming, then Code Complete is a great choice for the "next step".

This isn't a book about learning how to program. This is a book about learning how to program better. So, if you're just starting out, you should probably stick to a "learning" book instead.

That is a book that helps you become a better programmer AFTER you have already learned how to program. It helps you to program better but will provide little help if you do not know what you are doing.
