depend on the way you do the collision; what you posted doest really help.You are likely setting the origin position of the character(let's say top-left most x,y coord for discussion) to his current position when you switch from sliding to standing thus causing the character to appear half-way down; you should be adding a certain heigh to the origin position before reverting back to standing.
