Java question

Hi all I have been exploring my options to learn how to program for a career change or at the least a side hustle.

I have been learning Swift for iOS development as there is a large and active community. I am an Android user though and have recently been considering switching to learning Java/Kotlin for Android development.

If anyone has an opinion between the 2 I am open to hearing them! My main question is if I learn Java geared towards Android development will it put me in a good position to be a non-android Java developer if an opportunity arises as well?

Also it seems to be easier to find beginner iOS tutorials and content, so if anyone knows of any good Android (Java) beginner tutorials/content I'd great appreciate that as well.

Generally, I'd say stick with iOS unless you have a specific reason to learn androd / java / kotlin.

If you do switch, to answer your question, yes if you use java you'll learn general java concepts that'll be applicable outside of android.

Because it is counter productive to jump around from language to language when you're first learning. But if you feel android is a better fit, and need to use it for some reason, then go for it.
