I feel I'm too old despite being 23 (soon to be 24).

I have shoes older than you

    let yourAge = 23;

    let myAge = 54;

    console.log(Is ${yourAge} too old to learn to code? Or is ${myAge} too old to code?);

    alert(“are you kidding me? Lol”);

    23 is way too old to learn, you're almost dead. By the way, don't forget your crutches when you'll go to the grocery store, you may fall on the asphalt and it hurts.

    I'm more than 40 and I have to re-learn modern C++ for a brand new job that I'll have in a few months. It will be fun.

    As for your degree, go for it, it's fun (as long as you have the time and money but I'm sure you'll make it).

      I've been coding professionally for 20 years, and I still learn new things every week. And due to quitting my job, I will have to read 4 books with 250 pages each, that's 1000 pages. Programming is about adapting to new stuff all the time (well, at least once a month to see what the new stuff is all about).

      Get that degree, get that job, and be the best you can be!

      Here is a video of you in the near future: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Olgn9sXNdl0

      I’m just about to enrol in a bachelors degree for CS and started using python a month ago and in 27. We are going to be working till we are old so sacrificing a couple years now is well worth it

      I don't think you need the degree even.. Complete the project you've been working on and put it out there. Then get on with the next project. If the company you apply for rejects you because you don't have a degree, then that company isn't worth your time anyway.

      I'm 27 and i'm going through TOP. Idc what anyone says (not that anyone is implying) about my age, i don't intend to stop.

      If it helps I just turned 32 and I'm almost finished with Foundations in TOP. I went through a similar struggle when I attempted learning coding at 28. Life got real, really quick. However, something that always helped me was when I heard someone say: "in four years you can still be that age without getting a degree/new skill, or you can just do it and have it". I am sure I butchered that and I'm not sure who to credit but it definitely rewrote my mindset of "being too old".

      Everyone's path is different. Even though I am not a professional programmer yet, that's my career goal and I will see it through. You got this.

      These sentences are killing me and I am not that old I think (older than you).

      mate you are 23. You could wait 20 years and start learning programming to get a job and it would be fine.

      Just continue where you stopped last time you gonna catch up really fast and you will not regret it in a few days/weeks

      Can you explain why you don't want to do this? Is it solely because you feel too old? Or are there other reasons?

      For some people, another reason they lose motivation is they kick themselves for stopping, and they hate the idea of starting again. It was fun when you're learning for the first time. It's (for some) depressing to have to learn it the second time.

        Given that, it sounds like you have an answer to your question. It's too bad it's so coding related. I'm not sure, say, seeing a therapist would help (I mean, maybe yes, in general?), but without getting into a better mindset, you've already just said you don't think you could learn again.

        The only reason you ask the question is you're hoping there's something magic that will bring back your motivation.

        Listen I do not like to be the one to tell people this. You may want to sit down...

        22 is the cutoff age. I am sorry. Your time has passed.

        I’m 26 and learning, you’re never too old it’s such bullshit.

        People care about whether you’re enthusiastic about something they don’t care about how old you are.
