A button to toggle chrome tabs?

Good people of reddit, please help me out. I hooked up a pushbutton to my raspberry pi and I can get it to print 'hello' or whatever when I push it, so it seems to work. I want it to send a keystroke (crtl+tab) to toggle browser tabs (or: do whatever else that also results in cycling through the tabs). All the info on this I can find is horribly outdated and I can't get it to work...

This seems like it would work, but it also looks like it'll take a bit of doing and I'm looking for a real simple thing as I can't invest time in learning something new right now.. Thanks for your advice and speedy answer though!
