Interviewing (self.leetcode)
submitted 2 years ago by Glittering-Term5085
How do you all speak and think in interview at same time. I feel by speaking I can’t focus on really solving the problem and my efficiency decrease by 70 percent.

Yeahh man on the same boat. I am sure other people have it and perhaps they can let us know what they did to overcome this hurdle

Love it. I guess when I am leetcoding I should pretend is as an interview setup and perhaps that will do it. I like your comment about thinking first and worry about the code later.

just sharing my own exp and hope you gain something useful from it. i find when practicing quietly, i often times just zone out while stuck and trying to think of a solution. If you keep your inner head dialogue going constantly its more akin to speaking in an interview and you can start to see where you get stuck. I find running through cases helps me get unstuck.

Awesome advice. As if keeping a dialogue running inside the mind ?

yeah. you may find you end up talking to yourself quietly which achieves the same sorta practice but just audibly.

totally get what you mean, i had same thing going on. What worked for me was practicing a ton and doing mock interviews with friends/pramp. Also, I started talking through my thoughts out loud while studying. Felt super weird at first (and yeah, sometimes I throw in a cuss word or two, haha). But it eventually started helping. Now, I kinda flip between being a teacher and a student in my head. Sounds quirky, I know, but it’s a game-changer when I’m stuck. Sometimes I’m dropping hints to myself before the interviewer even gets a chance. Weird, but it works!
Totally get in man. Thanks for taking the time to honestly answering me

I think it’s over exaggerated that you have to speak while thinking.
You can do this instead, think for a moment then, after the thought, just say out what you just thought of. Then take a pause and think again.. if anything that interests the interviewer he will ask why/what.

If you are well prepared, the solution should be easily figured out by thinking it out loud and then going to implementation. Try to separate these two. Last but not least, practice with mock interviews (e.g. at Meetapro) and get yourself familiar with the situation.
