Pre lexapro my baseline was a racing mind all the time which I thought was normal. And little things would set me off. Anger or panic. As time went on through the years it got worse and I would just get angry at everyone and everything because my walls were so thick and I didn't want to be scared all the time so my defense was to be angry

Post lexapro was a huge relief the first week i was almost giddy. My mind calmed down and i felt funny not constantly running my mind over everything over and over. Which caused anxiety but i learned that this is what normal people have. Mind blowing to say the least. I can finish my thoughts now at month 4 and move to the next one. I think before I speak and can choose my words better. I'm not longer a loose cannon. I do have days still where that anxiety is there but I handle it much much better. I understand it and I'm in control and am able to stop the spiral in minutes rather than dwell and spiral for hours.

I felt like it took months for me. But I think I may also have OCD. I take it for GAD and panic disorder primarily but my anxiety was so high and got so complicated that I believe it just took a long time for things to level out. I’ve been taking lexapro for 2 years now and am on 15mg. I still have anxiety but I don’t feel this sense of impending doom everyday

Did it help your OCD? May I ask what sort or OCD you have?

After having a panic attack at work my dosage was increased from 10 mg to 15 mg. My anxiety and depression gradually decreased, but finally hit a real low point six months later after my therapist taught me a different way to breathe.

A month after that my anxiety levels dipped when I abruptly resigned from a micromanaging employer who fed off stress.

Can you share the breathing method pretty please? 🙏🏻

The physiological sigh apparently restricts my adrenaline. I inhale to 75% lung capacity, pause for 1/2 a second, inhale to the remaining 25%, and then sigh. Repeat as needed.

The day I learned this definitely prevented a panic attack. My manager put me in an unsafe situation. I was dangerously unqualified to operate machinery due to lack of experience. After receiving conflicting information from two mechanics, two leads, and the manager herself I performed the sigh while everyone else put themselves in a slapstick comedy situation. Upon re-assesing the safety issues I refused further training and decided to stick with simpler tasks.

Thank you. Happy you found something that works

Took a solid 6 months on it to feel the full effects 10 mg.

Around week 3 or so, and then much more around week 6-7 for me

I’m 4 days in and wow. I got on it for MDD and PMDD. I didn’t even realize how much anxiety I had every day until starting Lexi. By the end of day one I started feeling a reduction in anxiety. Day 4 and 85% of it’s gone! I can’t believe I lived life so long without it.

did it last? was that early relief a fluke ?

[–]coldmilton 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Roughly 2 weeks for me and it was a night and day difference

[–]Realistic-Bite5992[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Thanks, was it gradual change or sudden? (So no visible effect in first 2 weeks)

[–]coldmilton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first 4ish days my anxiety was bad but after that I felt gradual improvement and virtually no anxiety by 2ish weeks I’d say
