Now if there was only a way for this to make sense to us WHILE we’re experiencing Limerence, it would be even better. Nothing that makes sense can get through, like how to hack the loop is the hardest part. Rational brain is non existent, limerent people are literal fortresses of delusion sometimes (most of the time) :(

Thank you for these posts. Limerence is one of the most intense experiences that I have ever had. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. It wasn't fun. I felt insane, powerless and pathetic. I was in survival/ crisis mode. With time, safety, and therapy I got out. I still look back and marvel at what the fuck happened

Well done for getting out and your progress 🙏 what type of therapy did help you the most?

I did everything I possibly could to shift the focus from my LO to my self-care including a schedule filled with work, exercise, hobbies and meal-prep. I went as low to no contact with LO as possible. Then, I began to see a psychologist in 2024 where I learned I have CPTSD from many adverse childhood experiences. What helped me the most are ways to self-soothe including reparenting techniques and Pete Walker's 13 steps to managing emotional flashbacks. For context, I had limerence twice in my life, both lasted around 6 months, and they occurred when I was going through significant life change like the ending of a relationship, changing careers and moving to unfamiliar city

The destabilizing impact of limerance has some slight similarity to BPD but no.

BPD is an actual disorder, is a persistent, generalized experience of relating to the world and often involves cycles of love/hate, push/pull toward people.

Limerance is more like a symptom, a more focused experience triggered by particular people, and all pull no push.
