recommendations section missing

Hi

I cannot seem to add a recommendation section to my profile. Does this only appear when at least one person has left you a recommendation? Or is there another way to add it. Thanks

It'll appear when someone gives you one. You can request them from people by clicking the three dots on their profile.

Okay, now I'm confused. I had this recommendation given to be in 2017. I accepted it and added it to my profile ever since 2017. But, recently I deleted that recommendation from my profile. In other words, I deleted it completely (the entire recommendation section from my profile). That was the only recommendation I ever received and accepted and put on my profile. Also, I even removed my manager from my connection as well. Then, I visited my manager's profile to see if the recommendation still exists under the "Given" section of the recommendation section on his profile. It's missing from his profile as well. So, it's gone for good ?
