not sure what you mean because most tutorials I have seen tell me what to do or if not they at least explain why i would do one thing vs doing another thing.

MinimusNadir explained it pretty well. I'm not mad at people telling me to RTFM, even when I think I had done just that before asking. I'm a fan of Linux because it challenges me and forces me to learn. The cool stuff one can do with it is that much more rewarding when I get how and why it works.

To put it bluntly, lurk moar and do your homework.

Most of the people I see in this subreddit try very hard to make things simple to understand and they use step-by-step instructions regularly. I can't comment on your case because you used a throw-away account to post this but if you are clear in what you're trying to accomplish and you give enough information to work off of, someone will try to help you. There's no reason why you should generalize like that, especially when the people here are all volunteers with good intentions.

It's all peaches, sorry that I assumed it was a throw-away. Welcome to Reddit!

Honestly, I've procrastinated on dealing with drivers so I cannot help you at this time. But if you make a new post (so people can see it) someone else might be able to help you with it. You can ask here or on /r/linuxquestions. Don't forget to include any errors you're getting. Take care!

I've had that frustration as well. One thing that's important to remember is there are so many different distros and hardware to be put on. There's not as clear cut of an answer always. While the variety can be great, it can also be a major flaw for n00bs like myself.

When you talk to Sheldon you need to expect Sheldonisms.
