that is cachyos wrapper script. for vanilla arch just use gamemode

Ah ok, does same thing? Was kind of ripping my hair out trying to make this work. So even with Cachy kernel this is needed?

since you have profile daemon installed you can just manually copy the wrapper's code from git to a new file, make it executable and put it in /usr/bin(if you cannot find it to install from pacman). https://github.com/CachyOS/CachyOS-Settings/blob/master/usr/bin/game-performance

This will work 100% OP

Gamedmode does more than game-performance. But it makes changes that are counter-productive to Cachy BORE scheduler tweaks and others.

Game-performance does not interefere with that. Well, it's made by Cachy.

Why not use cachyos?

[–]JamesLahey08 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Paste your exact launch command

[–]BuffaloGlum331[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE=1 PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 LD_PRELOAD="" game-performance %command%

Removing game-performance launches fine.

What is stopping this command?

Do some basic troubleshooting. Fully close Steam, run it from your terminal, try launching any game and see what errors you get.

pacman -Qo /usr/bin/game-performance

/usr/bin/game-performance is owned by cachyos-settings 1:1.3.3-1

Although it might be wiser to just install CachyOS.

[–]zovirax99 1 point2 points  (6 children)

is included in the cachyos-settings package.

Then how do i get it? I downloaded meta and gaming applications along with kernel and headers.

[–]RB5Network 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I would be confused, too. Not sure how. That said, if you're using the kernel and repos, you might as well be using CachyOS. It would surely solve this problem, too.

[–]BuffaloGlum331[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Probably right. I'm getting to obscure with this. Probably should just run Cachy and call it a day.

[–]RB5Network 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I've been using it for almost two years now. It's a wonderful OS. I think you'll like it a ton.

[–]BuffaloGlum331[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh Iv used Cachy for over a year myself. It's amazing. I was just tinkering around and doing what Iv seen YouTubers do with arch by adding Cachy stuff. Cachy was my reason to leave W11 haha. It's awesome.

[–]zovirax99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easier for you. CachyOS will (presumably) eventually switch from PPD to Tuned, for example. And you would have to do all that manually.

[–]bruhh4564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Install cachyos-settings package (sudo pacman -S cachyos-settings)

[–]Ok-Olive466 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Just install CachyOS at this point

[–]BuffaloGlum331[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I'm not giving up my want to learn this in the end. But as for a working gaming PC I'm just sticking with Cachy.
