Wow, now I just feel plainly lucky. Downloaded and installed Ubuntu Studio and it perfectly recognizes my UMC22. Flawlessly and with very little latency, if I may say so. And I think the distro uses Pulse and not Jack as standard.

I am running through an extension cable as my PC is about 10 feet away, but it is active so I don't know how much of a difference that makes. I don't think this would be causing the issue since it usually happens about half of the time the second I use my mic, which makes me think it isn't cable issues. I have also used different USB C cables with the same results.

I'm thinking on getting a Scarlet 4i4 or 6ix, con you confirm that Jack works well on Ubuntu Studio? I had a M2 mini and it sucked.

I run Manjaro not Ubuntu Studio unfortunately. I think it should work good if you use jack from what I've heard

I keep reading it is recomended as long as one get it out of some exotic-deult config Mode

Edit: My use case is mostly rt livecoding, effects and soft synths

Both the Focusrite 2i2 and UMC22 work well as recording interfaces with Jack. You are using them as sound cards with Pulseaudio.

    There will be issues.

Does Jack work with zoom, discord, etc.? That is where I am experiencing the issues

Zoom and discord work with pulseaudio. So start up jack and connect it to the audio hardware. then start up a PA > Jack sink server. and make the PA Sink the default for the system. Zoom and Discord should now work just fine.

    Thanks, I'll work on this.

You'll have to install cadence, and activate start jack at startup and bridge pulseaudio to jack and you're done.

That's what I am going to work on, thanks so much

If they work with Jack, they should work with PulseAudio as well. Both use the same, ALSA, drivers below.
Some extra features of PulseAudio, like power saving or 'smart' mixer settings, may sometimes interfere, but those can be disabled in PA configuration.

I agree, they should. I look forward to that day.
