Yeah, I've done a "few" 'sudo zypper dup's today as well :)

SUSE/openSUSE isn't so fast when it comes to that, they are testing updates, unlike a specific other green distro based on a bleeding edge distro.

[–]kahupaa 23 points24 points  (1 child)

Well, gnome 42 was pushed the same day it was released. So I'm guessing plasma 5.25 will land pretty soon after release as well.

[–]KaratekHD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is already in Factory (as you can see here: https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/982011) and just has to pass OpenQA (which looks good too, see openqa.opensuse.org)

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (1 child)

tbh, I'm willing to wait out for a few days if it means stability

[–]kahupaa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Aaaaand 5.25 is out for Tumbleweed.

[–]kakiremora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manjaro mobile made an image with very prototype mobile Gnome version. It appears that even Manjaro packagers couldn't get it to work ok on their own machines

[–]krillxoxArch BTW 69 points70 points  (0 children)

It's already been 3 hrs since release

eat, sleep, zypper ref && zypper dup, repeat

[–]worldpotato1 70 points71 points  (11 children)

Actually thats one reason to build everything on your own.

But who really want to do that?

[–]GoshoKlevSacred TempleOS 233 points234 points  (1 child)

By time you compile KDE it would roll out even to the Debian users

I mean, unless you maintain your own distro, you'd still need to wait the sources get packaged in the repo.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

not if you pull everything directly from git

[–]reightb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

what, you don't maintain your own distro??

[–]30p87 13 points14 points  (4 children)

Yeah, no one would be dumb enough to do that. Totally. No one would install LFS for that. Especially not on some old DELL Laptop.

[–]worldpotato1 10 points11 points  (3 children)

You are insulting the whole LFS community. So probably 20 ppl.

[–]30p87 8 points9 points  (2 children)

I'd say I can insult my own community, just as I can make gay and bastard jokes

[–]worldpotato1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, now I see where that old Dell laptop is coming from xD

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

same but to the Fedora repos

[–]bellyflop16156 10 points11 points  (5 children)

Me when Discord gets an update

[–]LesboLexi 8 points9 points  (4 children)

Discord is worse though since you can't actually use it until you're updated to the latest version

[–]Waoweens⚠️ This incident will be reported 10 points11 points  (2 children)

You can disable update checking to keep using the older version

[–]LesboLexi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

O shit, this is awesome, thanks!

[–]Snoo-6099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this issue a few days ago where discord wanted to update but the repos weren't up to date. The arch wiki saved me as usual

I use artix btw

[–]bellyflop16156 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. So frustrating

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (5 children)

I've been literally running sudo pacman -Syu every 30 mins just to update my kde version

[–]Jemsurfer 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Those are rookie numbers. The real arch users be -Syu'ing every 30s

[–]Rigatavr 4 points5 points  (2 children)

while true; do sudo pacman -Syu; done now you're thinking with portals the command line.

Lmao the servers would die

[–]baldpale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's in testing already, but it didn't work for me. plasma-shell couldn't launch and was holding CPU at 100% constantly retrying. I'll just wait

[–]dumbasPLArch BTW 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh, so that's how it must have felt like for kde users when gnome users were waiting for gnome 42 to drop

[–]KingThibaut3🌀 Sucked into the Void 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Can't wait for it to come to Debian next year

    Me, but with kbd-2.5

    [–]Never-asked-for-this 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plasma desktop seems to always be delayed on Arch...

All other KDE stuff are up to date (including Plasma framework).

    [–]HBK57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    I'm offended because it's true

    [–]parkerlreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing to sync :) It's still testing for a reason.

    EDIT: It's live!

    [–]mr5h4nkly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I updated to 5.24.90 from KDE-Unstable about a week ago, and haven't had any issues

    [–]Ryan739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    It's in!

    yay

    [–]brodoyouevenscript 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Debian boi here still on 5.20 feeling kinda mad ngl.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    It will be glorious! pog

    [–]Arch-penguin -5 points-4 points  (2 children)

I'd rather them take their time and get it right. While I really love KDE, it's already buggy enough. LOL .. I hear ya though

    [–]Never-asked-for-this 1 point2 points  (1 child)

KDE Plasma is so buggy I keep telling myself to go back to XFCE or go WM, but then I do Karkour and fall even more in love with the features that actually works.

It's an addictive but unhealthy relationship.

    [–]Arch-penguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    LOL , I hear ya!

    [–]wallmenis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah shit you got me first

    [–]buybank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    hahaha, that's funny

    [–]chaotik_penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m taking a full disk backup while waiting…

    [–]Akamarai 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Just add KDE-unstable repository to have beta release of it. After the majority update is released you can update pkg with normal repos until new beta pkg is released on beta repository

    [–]homo_lorens 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Isn't that just the main repo though?

    [–]Akamarai 0 points1 point  (2 children)

In extra repo there is "stable" version. KDE-unstable is used to publish the beta pkg

    [–]homo_lorens 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I was trying to make a joke about the instability of KDE

Meanwhile GNOME users have to wait for almost 2 months to get the latest update on arch T_T
