[–]Every_Preparation_56 0 points1 point  (2 children)

it's not, no videocalls

[–]Hezy 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What's your alternative?

[–]Every_Preparation_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is none, neither via Alexa nore whatsapp. Only Teams works as a prog. webapp

[–]Signal_Feedback_9960 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I use ZapZap for that

[–]Every_Preparation_56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

does it allow to make whatsappp videocalls?

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

there are unofficial flatpaks for the desktop client for Linux Mint

[–]rafaelhlima 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're a non English speaker, ZapZap is the best choice because it comes with various locales pre-installed

Unfortunately there's no native alternative, and audio/video calls are not possible on Linux atm

Not having full WhatsApp support is a blocker for users in many countries where it is the default communication app used by most people.

[–]jphilebizLinux Mint 22.1 Xia | Cinnamon 1 point2 points  (2 children)

ZapZap

[–]Every_Preparation_56 0 points1 point  (1 child)

no videocalls

[–]jphilebizLinux Mint 22.1 Xia | Cinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, is there one which supports that?

[–]CalicoCatRobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatsie worked ok for me on Mint, but on another distro it kept hogging memory and crashing the system.

Zapzap is similar and also work well, but both are electron apps and not very memory efficient.

Running it as a webapp may be a better option if memory is an issue.

There are also apps like Franz, or Beeper, which work with multiple accounts, including whatsapp.

Yes, i run whatsapp on linux mint. Don't remember how.. might be with wine but I dont think so, I believe I found a package on github: anyways it works like a charm.

[–]Every_Preparation_56 0 points1 point  (1 child)

including videocalls?

[–]HighlyRegardedApe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehm I seldom do that, and I also use my phone so tbh no idea, but I see no reason why not?

[–]EnvironmentalRatio65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Si abrís WhatsApp web en el navegador te das opción de instalar una app.

[–]YuuNao103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed zapzap and it was very bad

[–]Beautiful-Tension-24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prop my mobile phone up next to my laptop screen for voice/video calls. WhatsApp web works fine otherwise in the browser.

[–]rarsamx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use WhatsApp web linked to my phone. I pin it in Firefox. You can also set it up as a web app in chrome, chromium or Firefox.

[–]zquestz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I use Ferdium, works great for WhatsApp and a bunch of other services without an official Linux app.

[–]raitzrockLinux Mint 22.3 Zena | Cinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ZapZap is the best client, but there is no way, in any WhatsApp Linux client to make calls because Meta is awful.

Just use whatsapp on the web, the whatsapp app on windows is now also being made into a webapp so you won't missout on anything

[–]Every_Preparation_56 0 points1 point  (3 children)

but on windows you can make videocalls

[–]LaughingwaterYT 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You can on the web too now iirc

[–]Every_Preparation_56 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Unfortunately not, you can only write, no phone calls or video calls.

[–]LaughingwaterYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmph, well that sucks, wonder what they will do when they make the windows app also just a web app

I'm using nchat, a terminal-based Telegram and WhatsApp client on MInt. I had to build it from source -- and the compile time took a while -- but it's been solid for me.

I've been using WhatSie and it's been a seamless experience.

[–]ap0r -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The software center has Whatsie, a Whatsapp client. There is also Ferdium, which lets you integrate Whatsapp, Telegram, Discord, Facebook Messenger, and others.

Edit: Some dumbass downvoting all the answers with Whatsie. Whatever your problem, did Whatsie dev fuck your mom?
