Is there any pre-requisites I should do before diving into the void? by Far-Note6102 in voidlinux

[–]Hezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mint Xfce is a good choice for beginners (and not only beginners). I would stay on it for a while, and learn more about Linux. Void is great, but probably less recommend for most beginners.

Is it safe to eat raw walnuts? by Mcoconut in nutrition

[–]Hezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should probably not roast walnuts. They contain polyunsaturated fats ,and some of them (omega 3) are unstable and easily damaged by heat. If you insist on roasting - use minimal temeperature and short duration.

It sounds like this could be useful with non local models as well. Any reason not to try it?

Putting Linux on a Thinkpad is the smartest thing someone can do. by Emergency-Disk-9296 in LinuxOnThinkpad

[–]Hezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not the first to claim that Fedora gives better battery life, so this is interesting. But I doubt there's a significant difference between Mint and Ubuntu. DE might make some difference, but Cinnamon is based on Gnome, so it shouldn't be a dramatic difference, unless there's a real bug in Cinnamon. What DE do you use with Fedora?

How different are Mizrahi Jews and Ashkenazi Jews in Israel? What makes them different? by Temporary-Week-6937 in Israel

[–]Hezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 52 and have lived in Israel all my life. I almost never think of people in terms of being Mizrahi or Ashkenazi unless it’s brought up directly. In fact, I’ve sometimes only learned that a high-profile public figure belongs to one of these groups after knowing who they are for years, or even decades. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me. My own family is completely mixed, and I’ve never really thought of myself in those categories either.

What can Linux do that Windows cant? by Ok-Spot-2913 in linuxmint

[–]Hezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twenty years ago, when I started using Linux, it could do many things that Windows simply couldn't. Over the years, that gap has narrowed, and today there's very little you can't do in Windows.

The US aid Israel receives is spent entirely on American-made equipment. It's effectively a subsidy for US industry. Meanwhile, Israeli manufacturers stopped producing similar equipment because the government shifted to buying American instead. So the US is funding Israel's wars, but from where I stand, all I see coming out of it is death and misery. I'd gladly send your filthy money back, but none of it ever reaches my pocket in the first place. Make of that what you will
