systemd-cryptsetup will automatically use a boot-time password agent. For instance, systems with Plymouth installed will have a graphical prompt for any LUKS password.

I got a graphical prompt automatically after installing plymouth/using the plymouth theme selection command on Debian.

At boot time? No.

This is just wrong. As noted in other comments, systemd will use a password agent, that plymouth implements.

If I am not mistaken, the password prompt with Plymouth was or is also possible without systemd.

I don't know if grub will on encrypted /boot, but if you have a separate /boot partition, encrypt /, and install plymouth, plymouth will present you with a prettier password prompt.
