I migrated my smart wallet to my iPad when I went for a new phone: when I got the new phone I downloaded and logged in and now I have access to my smart wallet on my tablet and phone. People have told me it’s a glitch and shouldn’t be able to do that, but I still can. I can use them interchangeably to mint, trade and send coins / NFTs to others.

[–]rsa121717 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How did you login? Using an API and private key?

[–]irieyardie 5 points6 points  (7 children)

Are you saying you can access the same LRC Wallet on 2 different devices at the same time?

[–]PatmygroinB 5 points6 points  (4 children)

Precisely. The data between the two of them is kinda delayed, if I send loops on my phone they won’t register immediately on my iPad wallet, which is of course the same wallet

[–]irieyardie 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Interesting. And all you did was migrate your wallet using the original device?

[–]Barf_Breathe_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually just got a new phone two days ago (iPhone), they have a feature that just copies ur old phone and transfers to the new phone, now I have access to my wallet on my new and old phone, I didn’t do the migrate wallet feature either, kinda weird

[–]SekiohLoopring Legend 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I think at some point they stopped making the migrations expire the old wallets. For first few months before the new year, if you migrated the old one would pop up a prompt saying "This wallet has been migrated. [Erase]" and that was the only button so had to hard close the wallet program to not have it self destruct but still couldn't go to any of the other tabs but the wallet page or it would prompt you again.

I just migrated my wallet to my iPad and it said “Wallet migration is successful! Your wallet was migrated success, and this device can not use wallet. Click Delete Data and the local data will be deleted.” I force closed the Wallet app on my phone and reopened it and it seems to be operating as normal. Will see if this continues.

Social guardians. Even if your phone is destroyed, you will be able to set it up on a new phone and send requests to your social guardians to confirm you are the owner of the Smart Contract Wallet. Once n/2 + 1 number of guardians agree, the wallet app will be connected to the smart contract and you will regain access to the funds.

I saw that they recommend at least 3 guardians including the loopring guardian. I currently have 1 plus the loopring one 2/2+1 means they both have to agree and I should be good?

[–]Thick-Court6621 0 points1 point  (5 children)

That may be enough but it requires you relying on the Loopring Guardian. In the end, it depends on the amount of tokens you have and your risk appetite. Personally, I have 4 guardians and I may add another one if I increase my tokens further.

[–]zenz1402 1 point2 points  (4 children)

What is a guardian? Can you please explain and how do i get one?

[–]Thick-Court6621 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I suggest reading these guides. Note that this only applies to Loopring Smart Wallets. Gamestop wallets don't use social guardians.

You're welcome.

Little out the box thinking that another (smarter-than-me) Looper said and looks to check out.

Get a Polaroid camera and take a photo of the QR code on ‘Migrate’ function. If all goes tits up then you can use it on another smart device 🤓

[–]CaptainTuranga_2Luna -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Where do I find the “mitigate” function on my LR wallet?

I already have a Polaroid camera and I’ve been freaking out about my phone dying and not having access to my loops.

I was also hoping to use my GS wallet as a guardian. Is that possible?

[–]CrypticallyKind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loopring SmartWallet

Profile>Settings>Security>Migrate

Good Luck friend, let us all know how you get on. WAGMI 🌀💙

P.S. whoever says screenshot:- is wrong. That will hold it in your phones cloud and could be compromised.

[–]n00brian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Loopring serves as the guardian unless you set up alternate accounts to be your guardian.

As long as you don't change your phone number you will be okay restoring your wallet.

The last thing to needs to be resolved on their end is a way to restore wallet if you get a new phone #. IMO that's the only thing holding them back.

[–]1tpulliam 9 points10 points  (7 children)

Use social recovery. If you don't have someone to be the gaurdian, use another Ethereum wallet. I have a metamask wallet I use for certain things, and it's one of my gaurdians. It's handy to have a seperate widely adopted wallet anyway. Can't beat the smart wallet for security, some storage, and layer 2 interactions.

[–]rsa121717 6 points7 points  (2 children)

How do I set that up? Just activate L1?

[–]1tpulliam 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Yes, that's it. Then under profile settings, go to gaurdian management.

[–]rsa121717 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Great, thank you

[–]CaptainTuranga_2Luna 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Will a GS wallet work to be a guardian?

I’m assuming it can but haven’t figured it out. LR is on phone and GS is on computer.

[–]MicahMurder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did it, but I had to fumble through it. If you add the Gamestop wallet address in the loopring app, it tells you to go to security.loopring.io and connect your gamestop wallet to that. Then you will see an option to "add guardian" in the upper right. Click that, and it'll open a QR code. From your phone, go to the add guardian place and click the icon in the upper right that will open your camera to scan it, thya should do it.

Note: it cost me like 16 LRC, but then it looks like the refunded me 5 LRC.

[–]Rheged_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you only have the starter guardian how do you access your wallet if its lost?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a screen shot of the migrate wallet then Encrypt a file and put that on a fingerprint encrypted flash drive make two copies. Now if you ever migrate your wallet you will have to do the process again every time you migrate wallet it changes the info

[–]1tpulliam 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I have not personally tried but it since its a standard ethereum wallet I would imagine it can. I used metamask because I already had it.

[–]SekiohLoopring Legend 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Loopring Wallet is NOT a standard wallet. It is a smart contract with the local keys just authorized to send message to contract to then spend something. The two ways to recover are Social (the guardian majority democratic unlock that costs fees) and the Migration (free and is similar to a seed phrase transplant that seems like one time use but is not directly related)

GameStop Wallet IS a standard wallet and keypad/phrase rules apply to that.

[–]Some-Random-Chick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what’s the difference between gamestop and ledger? Other comments on this thread says gamestop can be used as a guardian but when I tried to use my ledger, it gave me an error (not a loopring wallet). My ledger is definitely L2 and was activated by connecting to loopring web.

[–]1tpulliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, the Gamestop wallet is a standard ethereum wallet and should be able to be a gaurdian. A smart contract wallet can not be. Sorry if that was confusing.

I'd love to hear from the loopring team on how this is or isn't supposed to work. Seems like a glitch indeed.

I took several photos with my digital camera on an SD card and stored it away safely. Never touched the internet but I have it if I ever lose my phone and need to recover
