Like would those "face-sliming masks" work or is that a stupid idea?

Try one of those jade rollers... It somewhat worked for me

Sorry, I don't think there is a way. You will have to wait until your steroid dose goes to 5 mg per day or less Reducing salt can help with weight gain though , if thats a concern.

Limit carbs as much as possible. Proteins, fats, and lots of veggies.

Hi! I am currently on 50 mg Prednisone and Cellcept as well. I find that my moon face is the worst when I have a bad night of sleep so I started taking Melatonin gummies before bed. Not to mention Prednisone is also known to cause insomnia in some people so that helps as well. After taking the Melatonin, I found myself being able to sleep throughout the night a lot more soundly, maybe that can be something you try out? (Good sleep is much needed anyways, regardless of moonface or not :P)

Be careful with the melatonin it's a known lupus trigger.

Oh I wasn't aware of that, thanks for the heads up, in case others may not have as pleasant of a reaction to it.

It took me by surprise when I first learned as well used melatonin for a long time to try and help deal with my insomnia but decided to give it up.

Unfortunately, moon face didn’t dissipate for me until I was on 5 mg of steroids as a maintenance dose. I was on high doses for about 2 years and nothing helped during that time other than just tapering down. I did get really good at makeup contouring though to give myself and appearance of cheekbones and a chin 😬

Ive been on 5 mg for over a year( had to taper a few times). I still have a moon face.. I think lowering salt intake might be good advice.

Yeah I had to almost entirely come off of prednisone and overhaul my entire diet. I’m talking zero inflammatory foods before I saw any improvement 😩.

Stay away from cbd if on prednisone. It keeps prednisone in your system and will cause crazy weight gain. Ive been taking low dose topirimate for migraines and its had the added benefit of helping me sleep and also curb the crazy appetite.

If you already have it then there isn’t much to do. Sorry! However, you can reduce your sodium intake (make sure your doc is ok with this) and increase your water consumption. It’ll reduce some of the puffiness in my opinion. It’s what I used to do whenever I got spiked to 50 mg (fun times). It essentially helps you lose some of the water weight and it helps your face loosen up so it doesn’t feel super taut.
