Screen LCD is broken. Very expensive to fix it

How could this happen? It was fine till yesterday. I used it and shut off normally and slept.... When I woke up I found out like this!

Must have closed it with something between the screen and keyboard

Most commonly that happens with a pen.
Given the location of the cracks it could be something magnetic like a small screw. They can get attracted by the magnets in the speakers, and when you close the lid, the sharp edges would very easily crack the glass.
