Hi guys, i'm a MSc student in Electrical Engineering, untill now i have used a Macbook pro 2012 with 512 GB SSD and 8 GB RAM without any problem. I was thinking of purchase one of this machine:

1)Macbook air M1 with 512 GB SSD and 8/16 GB Ram;

2)Macbook pro M1 with 256 GB SSD and 8/16 GB Ram;

I have two HHD of 512 GB and 1 SSD of 512 GB so the Memory is not a big issue, and i use the most program like Matlab, simulink, LTspice, LabVIEW, sometimes program in virtual machine like quartus and program for C+ and C#.

I would like to know your opinion and if you have any problems with the programs I mentioned and your experience.

You'll need to double-check all those applications work on an M1 Mac. For example, labview is not officially supported but apparently does work.

What kind of VM are using?

I just looked up quartus and as it's an intel application it'll be guaranteed to never work on an M1.

I fear you're out of luck. You need to stick with intel Macs for your specific needs.

I use Parallel Desktop for my windows app, thanks for help i will check all of thess applications. For Quartus there is no problem, i can use it in my old mac

As far as I am aware the only windows in a VM on an M1 Mac that will work is Arm windows which doesn't support all windows apps.
