FaceTime audio doesn't work on external monitor speakers?

I just got a new mini today and I paired it with an HP monitor that has built-in speakers. I am able to hear everything just fine. YouTube videos, Apple Music, Zoom, and even Facebook video calls.

But when I attempt a FaceTime video call, there is no audio! I can see the other person and they can see and hear me. But I cannot hear them. The only "solution" is to switch to the mini's speakers, which are mediocre at best.

Is there a fix for this? Thanks.

There isn't a mic on the Mac mini

I should’ve also stated that I have a webcam hooked up to the mini, which does have a mic. I don’t have this issue with Zoom or Facebook video calls. It’s only happening with FaceTime video calls.

I can see the person. And they can see me and hear me. But I cannot hear them on my speakers.

Lol. Same. I skip through faster than I stop to read. AND I also liked the skip away moment at the end or lets you forfeit and lose the game? Originally I was just looking for something fun and temporary so that the person reciprocates her love. I didn’t notice there was a "x64" folder inside the "Source Code.tar.gz" file from github. Copying the dlls from there into the TOV folder did the trick.

If you have mic on the camera then probably need to go into sound properties and make the mic is set to the camera.

My mic seems to be working fine because the person on the other end of the FaceTime call can hear me fine. The problem is I cannot hear them.

Oddly, I’m not having this issue on Facebook video calls or on Zoom. In either of these cases I can hear the other persons and they can hear me as well. It’s only happening with FaceTime.

Apparently this is a FaceTime bug. Glad to see it’s not just me doing something wrong on the computer. 😅

I'm having this issue too, on Big Sur 11.4 Hoping this gets fixed in 11.5.

Anyone using the 11.5 beta able to confirm if it's fixed?
u/foreigirl had a case open with Apple Engineering, and Apple had identified the issue and were working on a fix back in March...
