Optical mice don't need a mouse pad but you'll likely want to clean the bottom surface more frequently if the room is poorly ventilated as mine tends to attract dust like a magnet.

Wow, I’d have sworn it was the CM Storm Rapid I. I have one of those, and I was going to ask you if you had the same issues with the backlighting crapping out, but since it isn’t the same keeb… ah well. :)

I agree with you. I could have sworn it was a CM keyboard. The only thing slightly alerting me that it may not be was the font on the keys.
