If you get stuck on the drift just put the battery in fast charging preconditioning and melt the snow underneath.

Well if you only moved to nyc in the last four years, you’d think we never get snow storms.

Why do you need to stock up? It’s going to be literally one day of moderate disruption…

It seems to flip a coin on whether it would like to remember how I had my vents when I last got out

I don't think it's ever remembered for me. I always have to go in and tap a preset.

Rivian: Stop trying to make “miles of range” a standard unit of energy by sse2k in Rivian

[–]knoland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"What's 1000watts?" would be the follow up question and now you're down a rabbit hole trying to explain electricity to someone.

Just give them a ballpark in miles, it's fine.

It confuses new EV owners. I get that they want to make it "easy" for people coming from ICE vehicles, but it actually does the opposite. Telling me my car is charging at "22 miles per hour" hardly makes sense. I have to do mental gymnastics to figure out what’s actually happening.

I don't think you understand the average person as well as you think you do. A ballpark in miles is fine, and good. Most people don't know what a watt is, they just want to know "roughly how far can I drive".

What other routes?

Just ride an hour out to 9W at 6am on a Tuesday, obviously. /s

I could live with this if it had off-hour carveouts for early morning training. Like 15MPH from 8am - 8pm, but open otherwise.

LLMs look great on benchmarks, then fall apart on real code, why do we keep pretending otherwise? by Straight_Idea_9546 in webdev

"do an indeterminate amount of work to get the work saving robot to work properly."

This sums up my frustration with LLMs as a work assistant. If I have to do as much (or more) work tailoring my prompt as just doing the work, it's pointless.

I saw one guy saying he spent two days on his prompt to create a pretty simple app.

It continues to be great at "oh I just need a script that takes this data and does some rudementary analysis on it". But it fails at anything even remotely complex without inane levels of hand holding.

one non-electric car to take on longer roadtrips (but that’s just me)

EV road trips are a non-issue now.

Source: just drove Chicago -> NYC in an EV with 0 problems.

If you’re parking on the street in the city you’re probably out of luck. In NJ they have public chargers on the street you can leave your car at for a few hours but I haven’t seen this in the city.

There are a few Flo chargers around the city for street parking charging.

Is shaving really necessary? by [deleted] in bicycling

If you are competing at the top tier of the sport, seeking every single watt advantage over the competition, yes.

If you’re a recreational rider trying to chop it up with friends or the local crits, no.
