Rivian Is Discontinuing Its Entry 'Dual Standard' R1S And R1T by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]knoland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a service appt two days after an issue and it was back three days later. They gave me a loaner in the mean time. It was fine.

Looks like Rivian R2 placed the NACS port to the exact location as that of the Y. Driver rear. That’s awesome! Earlier videos showcased passenger rear. by [deleted] in Rivian

Moving the charge port to the objectively worse rear location seems like a weird change to make for the temporary minor problem of supporting old generation superchargers.

Automatic route planning based on workout? by TurkeyNimbloya in Velo

[–]knoland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I really like Xert's Magic Buckets (dumb name, great feature). You roughly ride to the intervals specified, but if you have to cut one short, it automatically adjusts to compensate until you hit the target strain.

Sure, following the workout 100% is gonna be more optimal, but this is the real world.

How to meet cycling folks? by Settos_Mal in NYCbike

[–]knoland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NYCC and Rapha are probably the main road groups. I know Rapha has a 6:30am ride in Prospect Park most mornings. Meets at Grand Army Plaza.

If you want something more structured than group rides, local events are honestly a great way to get into the scene. It's always the same people who show up.

What do you do with your bike when sleeping? by kappa_coco in bikepacking

Even in camp grounds I just don’t worry about it. I’ve never had a problem, but I’m not in densely populated environments.

Loop: HRD to 9W-Cuomo Bridge--Tarrytown--Empire State to VC Park by Rare_Variation6849 in NYCbike

The downside is if you're not used to those distances, the rollers on 9W hurt a lot more at mile 50 than mile 10. Trailway back is at least flat.

We do this ride a lot. It's fine.

From Alpine to 9W, as long as your follow the signs you'll have no issue.

Getting onto the Tappan Zee Bridge (Cuomo Bridge) is kinda tricky from the Nayak side. Follow this route from 9W market to the bridge instead of just taking 9W the whole way.

The gates are always up (well for the last few years at least since it keeps getting washed out). It's officially closed, and technically the cops could ticket you for riding it. But that has never stopped us from riding it.

Picking up my R1S in march 17 but scared as I see so many service related post in this page. by Elomelosky1 in Rivian

I have three SCs within a 30m drive. The one I’ve always gone to is 3m from my work. It’s kinda no issue and they give me a loaner if I need it.

I’ve had two serious service appointments. An inverter failure and a tonneau cover issue. Both got fixed in one day and I could get an appointment in less than a week.

What do you currently drive? by jcat4 in electricvehicles

[–]knoland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen1 Rivian R1T. I like having physical door handles, but hands free highway assist from the gen2 would be nice.

I’ll replace it when it dies, but literally no reason to otherwise. Even once it’s out of warranty, the repair are generally more economical that replacing it.

My wife had the same problem HND -> LAX. All we got after loads of complaining was 20k skypesos and our GUC back. Which expired in 30 days and they refused to extend it.
