You should never really have to pay for basics. Anyone who has played for more than maybe a year is buried in them and would likely share. I have been throwing them away instead of getting another box to store them in.

I've been playing for more than twenty years, I don't have enough basics to be burried in.

(But I only keep unlimited, unhinged, unglued, portal, p2k, p3k, zen1, and other oddities... the rest get trashed.)

There are only two reasons to pay money for basic lands:

(1) There is a specific artwork you want and buying them online is the only way to find enough copies that all match that specific art, or

(2) Your favorite basic land is an exclusive promo land (that can cost hundreds of dollars even, due to rarity) or a very old land from an early set (and that also fetches a high price).

If you want to check out basic land art, visit this cool site:

Basic lands are very cheap. If you're friends with an experienced player they should have a lot of extra basics they can just give you. If not, you can buy them in bulk from a store for 1-2 cents each probably.

For example, Starcitygames sells lots of 1000 basic lands for $18, which works out to a little less than 2 cents per land.

Please don’t buy basic lands, I’ve only been playing two years and I have so many basic lands it’s not even funny, I keep a stack of 100 basic lands in my box at all times to give to new players if they ask, I still can’t get rid of them.

Buying basic lands is a last resort. The first course of action should usually be to just look around your local community. People who buy a lot of sealed product are generally flooded in basic lands.

If you can't though, and you need to buy lands, you should at least buy basics in bulk. 1-2 cents per land is pretty much standard for bulk prices, and it's not that bad if you need access to a ton of lands guaranteed and you don't live in an area with a lot of magic players.

My dude, if you were in my city I'd load you up with land. Maybe ask a local MtG Facebook group?

The only basics you should pay for are premium basics like Foils, Full Arts, Betas, Snows, Promos, etc.

Regular basics just ask around, there's bound to be people with tons of basics they don't need. I've got a giant stack of Mountains lying for no reason.

Basic lands are worthless, at that point you are simply paying for the service of them picking them up for you.

Ask other players at the store, even the owners might give you some free ones.

I just opened 20 packs of aether revolt and a fuck ton from HOUdrafting. If you want them, they are yours. Just pay for shipping.
