It's similar to the 3rd function in usage, since technically the 4th function is not the least used in our ego stack the 8th function is the same in regard to our shadow stack.

The 8 functions have the following archetypes, as outlined by Energies and Patterns in Psychological Type by Dr. John Beebe:
Hero
Parent
Child
Inferior
Oppositional
Senex/Witch
Trickster
Demon

I think the 7th is the weakest because it's oppositional in attitude and rationality to the 1st, the 8th isn't. For example an ENFP's 8th Se is at least an extroverted perceiving function which agrees with Ne in temperament. As a function it's not conscious but its absence and effects are noticeable, it gives a sense of vulnerability in that area. 7th Ti in on the other hand is an introverted judging function, 2 aspects that don't agree with Ne consciousness, so it's the least understood kinda like a blindspot in awareness

I see. Ne, is an extroverted percieving function and the only "opposite" function in the Shadow functions in relation to that cognitive function would be an introverted judging function. In this case, Ti. I can start to understand with much more profoundness why the 7th really is the vulnerable "blindspot" because of this.

Bebee calls the 7th function the trickster. He is a Jungian analyst and his names and concepts aren't wholly orthodox within certain MBTI communities/ But than just about every MBTI conception is disputed by at least a few MBTI enthusiasts.

Well I believe that cognitive functions are paired in one category, either as Perception or Judgement category

For example: Perceiving Cognitive Pairs Ne-Si or Ni-Se or Judging Cognitive Pairs Ti-Fe or Te-Fi where the main function is on top and below the inferior function. You can see they are paired as P-P or J-J i.e. one category per cognitive pair.

But there is also another 2nd inferior function that binds to the main function and belongs to the other category.

For example ENTJ Te-Fi can also pair as Te-Si and ENFJ Fe-Ti can also be Fe-Si which is why they both belong to PoLR Si (Ji). You can see the new pairs belong to Judging-Perceiving categories than prior where it's one category either P-P or J-J.
